Like in the other series by this author, the main character is independent, strong, beautiful and has an element of mystery. And just like in every other series I've read by her - be it about Grim Aisling, Bay Winchester, Harper Harlow or Ivy Morgan - the male lead has a police or military background, is extremely handsome and is reluctant to engage in a real relationship. The main character (MC), is also surrounded by either VERY supportive/smothering/codependent family or friends who are inordinately interested in every detail of her life. They just won't leave her be. While that is sweet on some level it just gets annoying after half a book (or half a series) of nosy comments. The relationship between the two MC:s start out tenderly and unsure and moves on to snarkiness and feistyness on her behalf and sexual comments and overbearness on his. And then it begins: he moves forward with witty remarks and confidence while she pulls back with insecurity and snarkiness. This goes on for a while. It basically ends with them moving from casual touch to kissing and then a physical relationship. And then... he turns into this over-protective, overbearing guy with extreme hero complex that has to know her every move and wherabouts. He becomes incredibly controlling and acts like she's in constant danger. She turns evasive and even more feisty and evades him so she doesn't have to tell him everything. They yell, fight and then massage eachother and bicker endlessly about her not telling him every detail of everything she does all day. And if he's not in close proximity to her - I mean have her basically on top of him - he's not happy. While it's sweet in the beginning you soon lose interest since it's the same lovestory being told over and over again - just in a new setting. This author is great at storytelling, humour and setting the scene, but she needs to expand on the relationships beyond the known formula. I just can't bring myself to read another book by her now, and I've already gone through about 20 of them.

Welcoming Seas A Rowan Gray Mystery Book 1 edition by Lily Harper Hart Romance eBooks Reviews

This book was boring. I was skipping pages just trying to get to the end to find out what happened. So disappointed. I thought I found a new series to keep up with.....NOT!
Entertaining first story in what I expect to be a series of several books. The "universe" seems at first glance to be a bit limited, after all how many things can happen on a cruise ship? The two main characters have a lot of potential, and I like the chemistry between them. I have enjoyed many other of Ms. Hart's tales, so I am heartened by this new series, and looking forward to the next offering.
Interesting story it was similar to a "Love Boat" story. It was a mystery to boot. I hope the other readers enjoys it too.
Rowan has had a crazy past filled with tragedy, and she has a strange gift that no one has ever believed her about that involves her pictures. She's great at taking pictures, and she's been able to tell when something bad is going to happen to someone, but she hasn't been able to stop it, yet.

When she takes a job on a cruise ship, and she gets a bad omen things go bad quickly. Not only does she have to worry about that, but the security specialists on the ship is someone she was prepared to meet, and now these two can't stay away from each other, and they both are working hard to uncover what is going on on the ship.

This book was very interesting, and very funny at times as well. I loved the honesty and banter between the hero and heroine, that isn't something you "see" in very many books, but this one was awesome.

The only thing I didn't like was Rowan's ability, and how she never really did more with it, it also doesn't seem like much, but I'm hoping that changes as the series goes on. I look forward to more now.
3.5 Stars.

First book in Lily Harper Hart's Rowan Gray series. It's a (cozy) mystery series that includes romance and (so far) just a slight touch of the paranormal. The book is set on a cruise ship and the supporting characters introduced so far seem promising. (One of the things I've always enjoyed about the author's series (she also writers under Amanda M. Lee) is the supporting characters she includes.)

I'm really excited about the idea of the cruise ship being a main feature with so many options to have mysteries tie in to other places they visit.

Overall, it seems promising and 8 out of 10 times the author delivers (for me) so definitely plan on checking out the 2nd book.
Lily Harper Hart has another great series! This one takes place onboard a cruise ship. We are given murder, mystery, romance, & a paranormal twist. It was so good I absolutely could not put it down. I loved the sparks flying between the two main characters as they try to solve the disappearance of a missing girl. There's plenty of flirting & "snarkiness" that creates many laugh out loud moments. The only thing that would make this book better would to actually be reading it while onboard a cruise ship!!! I can't wait to see where the ship goes next.
A refreshing, fun, fast and full of surprises book. Rowan Gray is a gifted or cursed young woman who can see an omen of death in the photos she takes. This is Rowan' s first ocean cruise as the ship's photographer. The ship's head of security Quinn does not know what to make of Rowan and enjoys watching her. Rowan sees the omen of death in a photo of four eighteen year old girls. Rowan follows them to see which girl is in danger. Quinn notices Rowan and starts to follow all of them. One of the girls disappears and Quinn and Rowan are on the job to find the missing girl and protect the other three. The chemistry between Rowan and Quinn heat up and so does the suspects. This book is a fast, fun read with lots of suspects.
